There are so many different types of psychotherapy
which one do I choose?
There has been a lot of research done over the years on the
effectiveness of the different types of psychotherapy
available. There are Humanistic, Gestalt, Existentialists,
Cognitive and Psychoanalytical psychotherapists to name but
a few. Recent thinking points towards the relationship
between the therapist and client as being the most
important ingredient for a successful outcome rather than
the orientation or tradition the psychological theory is
based upon. For this reason you may want to telephone
several different therapists or even meet with them to see
which one feels right for you. First and foremost though
it’s important to check out the qualifications.
